Using The Key
Use The Key as a starting point when working with a loop, backing track or unfamiliar recording. Its estimate can help guide further listening and harmonic decisions.
A starting point
Analyse a representative passage with clear pitched content, then check the result by ear or against an instrument. Modulation, ambiguous harmony and percussion-heavy material can make a single key less useful.
